The End of an Era | A Fond Farewell and a New Beginning
For the past six years, I’ve had the joy and honor of hosting the Mixed Media Index Card a Day (MMICAD) challenge; a 61 day creative adventure that was inspired by Tammy Garcia’s original ICAD concept. Each summer from June 1st through July 31st, we’ve gathered together to transform humble index cards into vibrant, textured explorations of creativity using collage, paint, ink and anything else our hearts desired.
The End of an Era
This year marks the end of an era. 2025 will be my final year creating and hosting the Mixed Media ICAD prompts. Its a bittersweet decision. This challenge has been a cornerstone of my creative calendar and a meaningful part of my community engagement. I’ve loved watching your interpretations of the prompts I’ve created, seeing how wildly different each card becomes even when we all start with the same simple suggestion. It’s been magical, inspiring, and deeply fulfilling.
So Why am I Stepping Away?
The decision wasn’t made lightly, but it comes from a desire to open up June and July for new possibilities. I’m entering a new season; one filled with evolving interests, emerging ideas, and a curiosity to explore other creative avenues. While MMICAD has brought me so much joy, I feel called to give space for those yet to be discovered projects and opportunities that need time and room to grow.
What’s Next?
If you haven’t seen my mixed Media ICAD’s , you can see them on my Instagram feed, some with my full process and reflections are on my YouTube channel.
To celebrate this final year, I’m offering a FREE downloadable 2025 prompt sheet. You can grab your copy here.
